Grand Finale and Award Ceremony of the Speechcraft Program 2024

The Department of Textile and Apparel Engineering at the University of Moratuwa hosted the Grand Finale and Award Ceremony of the Speechcraft Program on October 28, 2024. This prestigious event, organized by the Moratuwa University Textile Association (MUTA) in collaboration with the Colombo Toastmasters Club, marked the culmination of an empowering 10-session program aimed at refining students' communication and leadership skills. Generously sponsored by MUTA and MAS Capital (Pvt) Ltd., the evening celebrated the achievements of its participants in a grand and festive manner.

With the theme of a Prom Party Celebration, the atmosphere was set for an evening filled with elegance and joy. The event began with a warm welcome from the emcees, SC Harshani Shashikala and SC Asanga Samarakoon, who skillfully engaged the audience and set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Their words resonated with a sense of achievement, pride, and anticipation for what was to follow.

The program featured a moving speech by the Toastmasters Mahamud Mohamed Zawahir, reflecting on the transformative journey of the participants and emphasizing the importance of effective communication in shaping future leaders. The evening reached a high point with an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, Mr. Deeptha Wijegunawardane, Director of Silueta (Pvt) Ltd. His words encouraged students to embrace challenges with confidence and to continuously strive for excellence in both their professional and personal lives. The first set of certificates was presented to Batch 1 participants by the esteemed TM Poojani Perera, whose encouraging words and warm demeanor added a personal touch to the moment. Each participant received their certificate as a symbol of their dedication and growth, marking their journey through the 10-week program.

For Batch 2, certificates were proudly presented by TM Ruwan Weerasinghe, TM Shavin Vishara, and TM Lushanthini Rajadurai.
